About Dr Barbara Sorensen
I have a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Psychology and a Master of Research (MRes) from Macquarie University, Sydney.
In Denmark, I completed a Master of Science in Psychology (MScPsych) from Copenhagen University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BAPsych) from Aalborg University.
I have completed a three-year core training program followed by a two-year advanced training program in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).
I have also had training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Coherence Therapy.
Currently, I am receiving supervision and training in Affective Set-Point Therapy (SPT).
Wide range of difficulties
Working as a psychologist in various public and private health services has given me experience in helping adults with a range of difficulties such as:

- Family and relationship problems
- Childhood trauma
Clinical training and experience
Furthermore, I have clinical training and experience in providing psychotherapy to adults who present with:
- Anxiety disturbances such as acute stress disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and panic attacks
- Mood disorders including depression and bipolar disorders
- Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders
- Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder
