Treatment Areas

In therapy, we work together to identify, work through, and overcome the internal problems and symptoms that are causing pain and unhappiness in your life.

Together, we build on your capacity to pay attention to and understand your internal experiences, regulate anxiety, experience your feelings, and, furthermore, restructure and let go of the beliefs, automatic patterns, and defence mechanisms that are causing you problems.

At the core of the therapeutic process is the understanding that early-life interactions with caregivers shape our internal affect states, how we relate to ourselves and others, along with how we predict our experiences and interact with the world. Based on modern predictive-processing models of the brain, we identify and work through deep-seated automatic patterns, defence mechanisms, and beliefs.

Defence mechanisms can be described as unconscious psychological, emotional, and behavioural mechanisms aimed at trying to cope with anxiety and adapt to primary attachment figures, along with try to manage the emotional distress from early attachment relationships. Beliefs can be described as cognitive and emotional structures aimed at helping us organise information, understand ourselves and others, make sense of our experiences and relationships, and predict future events.

By letting go of these automatic patterns and defence mechanisms along with restructuring, deeply-held beliefs and the meaning of earlier attachment experiences, symptoms rapidly resolve and you can experience profound improvements in the way you relate to yourself and others.
