Affective Set-Point Therapy (SPT)

Affective Set-Point Therapy (SPT) integrates attachment theory, modern neurobiology, and memory reconsolidation. SPT is developed by Dr Steve Arthey and is a recent adaptation of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).

SPT operates from the idea that early-life interactions with caregivers shape our internal affect states, how we relate to ourselves and others, along with how we predict our experiences and interact with the world. SPT uses modern predictive-processing models of the brain to identify and work through deep-seated automatic patterns, defence mechanisms, and beliefs. These patterns and mechanisms can be experienced in various ways, such as low self-worth, lack of self-esteem, anxiety, depression, instability in mood, relationship difficulties, and self-harming actions.

By letting go of these automatic patterns and defence mechanisms, and by restructuring deeply-held beliefs and the meaning of earlier attachment experiences, symptoms rapidly resolve, allowing you to experience profound improvements in how you relate to yourself and others.
